As we approach the end of the year, many of us are thinking about New Year’s resolutions and perhaps updating our bucket lists. If you’re considering surgery abroad, you’re not alone. Whether you've been waiting months or years for a specific procedure, medical tourism might be something you've heard about.
I first learned about medical tourism back in 2010 at a conference on the Ethics of Medical Tourism. Since then, I’ve attended several more conferences. However, I became increasingly concerned about the lack of unbiased resources for people exploring the idea of surgery abroad.
To help guide those considering surgery overseas, I wrote Medical Tourism - Surgery for Sale. The book offers tools to make informed decisions about choosing the right facility and destination. This year, I've updated the book to include post-COVID insights and have created a companion online course, Navigating Medical Tourism.
